Betta Fish Origin

Bettas are endemic to Thailand's Mekong basin, also known as the home of the Siamese fighting fish. In addition, they are also found in various regions of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

Bettas prefer to reside in flowing streams, rice fields, and small ponds with water that is between 75 and 80 degrees Celsius in temperature. Bettas are labyrinth fish; therefore, they can readily survive in shallow water.

Variety of Bettas

Here are among the most popular betta species available for purchase. Most of them got their names from the way their tails looked.

Delta Betta

The tails of delta bettas are straight and have caudal margins. They are predominantly active and have a dazzling blue and red color scheme.

Elephant Ear Bettas

Elephant ear bettas have big, ruffled pectoral fins that resemble an elephant’s ears. They typically have half-moon-shaped tails. Their fins are around three times larger than the fins of regular bettas.

Rosetail Betta

Professional breeders of rose-tailed bettas typically use Halfmoon species. If you look closely at the caudal fins, they have other rays, twisting, and ruffled edges. Even by itself, the tail may fold back and forth.

Combtail Betta

While the webbing on combtail bettas can extend to about two-thirds of its tail and has a bigger diameter than that on other species, they still have rays at the fins.

Feather Tail Betta

Feather tail bettas will resemble rose tail bettas, but they have more branching in their fin rays than other bettas do. But they appear more ruffled, in contrast.

Plakat Betta

The betta species is said to have descended from plakat bettas. They can have round shapes or shorter tails with spaces. They are robust and less prone to illnesses and accidents.

Providing for Your Betta Sorority

Betta fish are often predatory. An adequate amount of protein should be present in the diet. Experts advise feeding your bettas flakes, pellets, and frozen brine shrimp. Giving them live brine shrimp can also occasionally be a smart move.

The new betta sorority might occasionally eat improperly. Female betta fish tank must be in an ideal state to avoid many downsides of the sorority.  Hope so, this won’t be a problem. Although, they could need some time to adapt to their new environment.
